Best iGCSE schools in Mangalore (2026 guide)

iGCSEParent Guides6 min readBy Jono Ellis

Mangalore's iGCSE market is genuinely small. If you're a parent scanning aggregator lists and wondering why the same names keep coming up, that's why. Top iGCSE schools in Mangalore include The Bharath Academy (TBA) and TLC School, both offering a live Cambridge IGCSE Grade 10 pathway. TLC's own May 2026 news coverage described its first cohort as joining "a small group of institutions in the city" offering Cambridge at secondary level, which fits what we found.

A quick note on boards. No school in Mangalore was found to offer Pearson Edexcel IGCSE. The market is Cambridge-only in practice, so the "Cambridge vs Edexcel" choice that parents wrestle with in Bengaluru or Hyderabad doesn't really apply here.

The "Cambridge in the name but CBSE only" trap

Mangalore has a specific trap worth flagging. Several schools carry "Cambridge" or "International" in their name but run CBSE, not Cambridge IGCSE:

  • The Cambridge International School (TCIS), Adyar, the homepage describes it as "one of the best CBSE schools in Mangalore" and lists a programme "from Pre-school to 10th Standard". Careers360 lists it as CBSE-affiliated (provisional from 2017). Mypaathshala shows an active age range of 3-10 (Nursery to Grade 5). IGCSE Grade 10 is not currently running here.
  • Cambridge School, Paldane / Neermarga, a separate school with Cambridge in its name, but CBSE-affiliated. Founded 2007 by Collins and Flavia Albuquerque.
  • Podar International School (Kottara Chowki), the Podar group runs IGCSE at some Indian branches, but the Mangalore branch is CBSE per Podar's own location page.
  • Manipal School, Mangalore, CBSE-affiliated (MyPedia in KG, then CBSE Grades 1-12).
  • The Yenepoya School, CBSE-affiliated. A "Cambridge Orientation" event appeared on the news page in Jan 2024, but there is no live IGCSE pathway.

If a listing site tells you a Mangalore school offers IGCSE, check the school's own site before you enquire.

How to shortlist

With a limited set of active options, shortlisting looks different in Mangalore than it does in a larger IGCSE market. A few things worth checking as you visit:

  • Confirm the Grade 10 pathway is live, not aspirational. Ask which grades currently have students, and whether a Grade 10 cohort has sat the Cambridge exams. In Mangalore, only TLC has published a public Grade 10 IGCSE results dataset so far (March 2026 series).
  • Ask for fees on enquiry. You'll need a direct call or visit for numbers.
  • Look at Sixth Form continuity. TBA runs Cambridge AS & A Level in-house. TLC's IGCSE cohort sits alongside a PU College at the CFAL campus, so the Grades 11-12 pathway is Karnataka PU rather than Cambridge A Level. This matters if you're planning towards Cambridge A Level.
  • Understand the group behind the school. Both active schools are part of larger local education trusts, and knowing the parent group helps you gauge stability and teaching depth.
  • Check location and commute honestly. The Cambridge clusters are Yeyyadi (TBA), Kavoor (TLC secondary and PU), Bejai / Kapikad (TLC early years, ELC), Kodialbail (Canara International) and Adyar (TCIS).

Active IGCSE schools in Mangalore

The Bharath Academy (TBA)

  • Board: Cambridge (CAIE), Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE (Grades 9-10), AS & A Level
  • Location: Blue Berry Hills, Yeyyadi Road, Mangalore 575008
  • Grades offered: Toddlers / pre-nursery through Grade 12, including AS & A Level
  • Website: thebharathacademy.org

Described in local media as "the region's first Cambridge International School". Around 12 IGCSE subjects are offered, with independent-study options, teacher mentoring and career guidance from Grade 9. Backed by the Bharath Group (an 89-year local community footprint) in partnership with ELC-CFAL.

TLC School (TLC Cambridge International School)

  • Board: Cambridge (CAIE), IGCSE Grades 7-10 confirmed; PU College Grades 11-12 alongside
  • Location: CFAL Campus at Anand Nagar, Akashbhavan, Kavoor Village, Mangalore 575015 (secondary and PU); ELC Campus at Kottara Cross, Bejai-Kapikad Road, Kotekani, Mangaluru 575004 (early years)
  • Grades offered: Kindergarten (ELC) through Grade 12 (PU College). IGCSE cohort sits at Grades 7-10.
  • Website: tlc.edu.in

TLC sat its first-ever Grade 10 IGCSE cohort in the March 2026 exam series under Cambridge centre code IA557. 16 candidates went in; 11 earned at least one A*, and 2 achieved straight A* profiles. Strong subject-level results in Maths (14/16 A/A*), Physics (12/14), English (13/16) and Chemistry (11/15), per Daijiworld's May 2026 report. TLC is part of The Learning Centre Trust founded by Vijay Moras, and sits alongside the CFAL STEM Institute and ELC in the same group.

Cambridge but not IGCSE yet

Cambridge-affiliated schools in the city include a couple that don't currently run an IGCSE Grade 10 cohort. Worth knowing if you're planning ahead for a younger child.

Canara International School

  • Board: Cambridge (CAIE), Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary confirmed on Cambridge's partner listing
  • Location: A.S.R.P. Road (Ammembal Subba Rao Pai Road), Kodialbail, Mangalore 575003
  • Grades offered: Primary and Lower Secondary. Upper Secondary (IGCSE Grade 9-10) not listed in the Cambridge partner directory.

Established 1891 as part of the Canara group, one of the oldest educational trusts in coastal Karnataka. Careers360 lists it as a Cambridge-affiliated day school with hostel, gymnasium and sports academy facilities, and notes it is "friendly for differently abled students". For a Grade 10 IGCSE pathway, families here would need to transition elsewhere (e.g. TLC or TBA).

Early Learning Centre (ELC)

  • Board: Cambridge (CAIE), IGCSE curriculum referenced on the site, but only Grades 1-7 in operation
  • Location: Bejai-Kapikad Road, Mangalore 575004
  • Grades offered: Playgroup / Pre-K, LKG-UKG, Primary (Grades 1-4), Middle School (Grades 5-7)
  • Website: elcindia.org

Sister organisation to TLC School and CFAL STEM Institute (same Learning Centre Trust). ELC has been recognised as one of "India's Promising Preschools of the Future" (twice, per Mangalore Today), with a nod for Innovation in Curriculum. The IGCSE Grade 10 cohort from this group now sits at the TLC brand's CFAL campus rather than at ELC itself.
