Best iGCSE Economics tutor in Hong Kong (2026 guide)

iGCSEParent Guides5 min readBy Jono Ellis

iGCSE Economics is one of the quieter corners of the Hong Kong tuition market. The big generalist centres you see everywhere for Biology, Chemistry and Physics thin out fast once you ask specifically for Economics at iGCSE level. BartyED lists English Language, English Literature, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology under its iGCSE stable, but Economics only appears in its IB and A-Level offerings. Tuttee lists Economics as a general subject and does teach iGCSE, but its public iGCSE subject page does not enumerate Economics specifically.

What you get instead is a mix of specialist Economics tutors covering iGCSE alongside IB, A-Level and HKDSE, plus a handful of centres carrying Economics as part of a wider international curriculum stable. Rates run wider than in the sciences: from marketplace figures around HK235anhouruptospecialistsatHK850-1,000 an hour, with most published centre rates landing in the HK$700-820 range for one-to-one. Both Cambridge (0455 and 0987) and Edexcel iGCSE are taught in the city.

Rates and details in this guide were checked at the time of writing (July 2026). Tutor pricing shifts, so it's worth confirming current rates directly with any centre or platform you shortlist.

Map your child's gaps before booking

Before paying HK$800 an hour for an Economics tutor, it's worth mapping your child's gaps first. A tutor with a clear brief on which topics need work is far more useful than one figuring it out session by session.

Cognito's free online platform is one way to do that. Working through the iGCSE Economics topics and quizzes flags which areas need work, so students walk into their first tutor session knowing where to focus. Families who do this often book fewer tutor hours or cover certain topics on their own.

If you'd still like to hire a tutor for the harder topics, here's what the iGCSE Economics tutor market in Hong Kong looks like.

Tuition centres and agencies

ITS Education Asia

ITS Education Asia is a tuition centre and a Pearson-licensed iGCSE and A-Level exam centre based in Central. Its iGCSE Economics page is explicitly Edexcel-specification, covering modules A to D (the market system, business economics, government and the economy, and the global economy). It also offers full-time and part-time private candidate programmes. Rates are on enquiry. ITS has a Trustpilot rating of 4.8 with roughly 324 reviews.

CANA Elite

CANA Elite is a Sheung Wan centre and admissions consultancy with a dedicated iGCSE and GCSE Economics tutorial page, founded in 2010. Delivery is both in-centre and online, in small groups and one-to-one. CANA offers a one-year iGCSE programme for both Edexcel and CIE routes. Rates are on enquiry.

HKETS

HKETS (Hong Kong Education and Tuition Services) is a Central-based centre operating since 2003. Economics is one of 15 iGCSE subjects it lists, and it is one of the few centres that publishes its rates: HK820perhourforsecondaryonetooneuptoiGCSE,andHK550 per hour in group format. Home tuition requires a minimum 1.5-hour lesson plus transport.

Bridge Elite Education Centre

Bridge Elite is a Causeway Bay centre founded in 2019 that works one-to-one only. Economics is on the iGCSE list alongside Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English and Psychology. Bridge Elite offers a free trial lesson, with rates on enquiry.

HKExcel

HKExcel is primarily IB-focused but runs an iGCSE offering that includes Economics. It has centres in Causeway Bay and Mong Kok as well as online delivery, and offers free trial classes. Rates are on enquiry.

NTK Academic Group

NTK is one of the older names in the city, founded in 1996, with campuses in Causeway Bay and Kowloon City. Economics appears under UK Curricula regular courses, and NTK also offers intensive and drilling courses. Tutors are described as full-time and in-house trained. Rates are on enquiry.

Hudson Academy

Hudson Academy is an IB, iGCSE and A-Level specialist with centres in Causeway Bay and Mong Kok. Group class rates start from HK250perhourandhomeworkhelpfromHK199 per hour, though the private one-to-one rate for Economics is not published. Delivery covers private, small group, online via Zoom and home tutoring.

TigerCampus Hong Kong

TigerCampus is a matching platform with a tutor roster, part of a wider regional network. It has an explicit iGCSE Economics page for Cambridge 0987. Published rates are HK235500perhouronlineandHK400-650 per hour for home tuition, with a free trial and 24-hour cancellation policy. Delivery is online via Zoom or in-home.

GETUTOR and HKTA

GETUTOR and the Hong Kong Tutor Association (HKTA) are matching platforms rather than centres. Both list iGCSE Economics tutors. HKTA profiles show rates roughly in the HK$200-300+ range, though these skew HKDSE and IB rather than iGCSE specialists.

How to choose

If your child is close to their specification and needs sharpening, an independent specialist gives you deep subject focus at a known price. If they need a broader iGCSE structure with in-person routine and past-paper drilling, a centre such as ITS, CANA Elite or NTK is better set up.

Check the board first: ITS is explicitly Edexcel, TigerCampus is Cambridge 0987, and most others claim both. Ask which specification the tutor teaches most, ask for a free trial where offered, and arrive with a clear brief on the topics that need work.
