Best iGCSE Biology tutors in Hong Kong (2026 guide)
Rates and details in this guide were checked at the time of writing (July 2026). Tutor pricing shifts, so it's worth confirming current rates directly with any centre or platform you shortlist.
The iGCSE Biology tutor market in Hong Kong
If you're a parent in Hong Kong looking for an iGCSE Biology tutor, you've got plenty of options and a wide price range to sort through. The market is a mix of established tuition centres, matching platforms and independent tutors, with hourly rates spanning roughly HK2,000 for premium one-to-one work. Group sessions and marketplace tutors can come in lower.
Both Cambridge (0610 / 0970) and Edexcel iGCSE Biology are widely taught here. Most international schools lean towards Edexcel, though Cambridge is also common and every centre we looked at claims to cover both boards. ITS Education Asia is notable as a Pearson-licensed exam centre in Hong Kong, so private candidates can sit their papers there directly.
Delivery is almost always hybrid. Centres typically offer in-person teaching at their Central, Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui or Kwun Tong locations alongside Zoom sessions, and platforms like TigerCampus and GETUTOR will send tutors to your home.
Before you hire a tutor
Before you commit to paying HK2,000 an hour for a Biology tutor, it's worth mapping your child's gaps first. A tutor with a clear brief on which topics need work is far more useful than one figuring it out session by session, at your expense.
Cognito's free online platform is one way to do that. Working through the iGCSE Biology topics and their quizzes flags which chapters need work, so students can walk into that first tutor session knowing exactly what to focus on. In practice, families who do this either book fewer tutor hours or cover certain topics on their own without a tutor.

If you'd still like to hire a tutor for the harder topics, or want in-person support alongside online revision, here's what the iGCSE Biology tutor market in Hong Kong looks like.
Established agencies and tuition centres
ITS Education Asia
ITS Education Asia (also known as ITS Tutorial School) is one of the longest-standing names in the Hong Kong tuition scene and doubles as a Pearson-licensed exam centre for private candidates. They explicitly teach Cambridge iGCSE Biology 0610 and the 9-1 syllabus 0970. Delivery is either in-person at their Central campus on Des Voeux Road or online, with one-to-one, part-time and full-time private candidate routes available. Rates are on enquiry. ITS holds a 4.8 rating with 324+ reviews on Trustpilot.
BartyED
BartyED is a well-regarded agency with in-house tutors, in-person centres in Kwun Tong and Wan Chai, and online delivery. Their published rate card puts primary and secondary tuition at HK2,080 per hour tier for sessions with Managing Director Jerome Barty-Taylor (Oxford-educated, founded the agency in 2016). iGCSE Biology sits inside a broader stable covering the other sciences, Maths, English Language and English Literature.
Tuttee Academy
Tuttee is an established Causeway Bay centre with 12+ years of operating history, focused on science and maths but covering English and Chinese too. iGCSE Biology sits alongside their IB DP/MYP, GCE A-Level and HKDSE offering. Delivery is both in-person at the Causeway Bay campus and online. Rates are on enquiry.
HKExcel
HKExcel is primarily known for IB but has an iGCSE tutor offering that includes Biology, plus Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Business, Chinese and Geography. Centres are in Causeway Bay and Mong Kok, with online video conferencing also available. Every IB tutor is stated to hold a bachelor's or master's degree from a top 25 global university. Rates are on enquiry.
Bridge Elite Education Centre
Bridge Elite is a Causeway Bay centre founded in 2019 that runs one-to-one only, no group. Their iGCSE stable covers Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Economics, English and Psychology. Biology tutors include Reine Ng (BSc Chemistry and Management, First Class Honours, plus an MSc from Imperial College London), Dr Ata (PhD Life Science, HKUST) and Dr Simran (PhD Chemistry, HKBU). Delivery is in-centre or online. Rates are on enquiry.
CANA Elite
CANA Elite has been running since 2010 and combines tuition with admissions consultancy, with a bench of 100+ tutors and consultants. iGCSE Biology sits inside a broad international-curriculum offering that also spans IB DP, MYP, GCE A-Level, AP and SAT. Their Biology lead Felix Lau holds a First Class BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from HKUST and has 7+ years of teaching experience across IB, Edexcel IAL, iGCSE, GCSE and AP Biology. Rates are on enquiry, with one-to-one and small-group formats available.
HKETS (Hong Kong Education and Tuition Services)
HKETS has been operating since 2003 out of their Central location on Pottinger Street and covers 15+ iGCSE subjects including Biology. Their published prices are HK550 per hour for group, though subject-specific pricing isn't broken out and iGCSE Biology quotes are on enquiry. Delivery is at their Central centre, at a location that works for the student, or online.
TigerCampus Hong Kong
TigerCampus is a regional agency and matching platform with a Hong Kong arm. Their iGCSE Biology page focuses on Cambridge 0610. Rates are published upfront: HK500 per hour online, and HK650 per hour for home tuition (transport included). There's no physical HK office; the model is home tuition and Zoom.
GETUTOR (HKTA)
GETUTOR, run by the Hong Kong Tutor Association (a private matching agency, not a teachers' union), works as a matching directory that recommends three to five tutors per case rather than a single centre. They cover iGCSE Biology alongside every mainstream iGCSE subject. Tutor profiles typically list roughly HK550+ per hour depending on experience. Delivery is home tutoring or online. Note that the "91.6% parent satisfaction" and "90% students achieved A or A*" figures on their marketing pages are self-reported.
How to choose the right tutor
Online vs in-person. Most Hong Kong centres offer both. Online works fine for iGCSE Biology since the content leans on diagrams and explanation rather than lab work. In-person still has an edge for younger students who need structure.
Agency vs independent. Agencies give you a bench to swap between if the fit isn't right and typically have more polished admin. Independents often work out cheaper per hour and give you a single relationship with the person teaching your child.
Group vs one-to-one. Group is meaningfully cheaper (HKETS publishes HK820 one-to-one) and can work well if the group is small and paced to your child. One-to-one is faster if there are specific gaps to close.
Ballpark budget. For premium one-to-one at a named centre, budget HK2,000 per hour. Marketplace and home tuition options start around HK$235 per hour online. A typical revision block might be one or two sessions a week for 8 to 12 weeks before mocks.
When to skip a tutor. If your child's gaps are only on a handful of topics, working through free quizzes and past papers first often closes them without booking any hours.
