key tips for success
Prioritise Paper 3 as synoptic
Paper 3 is 30% and pulls across all four themes. Practise linking micro and macro (e.g. how firm behaviour affects macro objectives) instead of treating them separately.
Master diagram technique
Supply/demand, cost curves, AD/AS, market structures. Every essay benefits from a clean labelled diagram. Practise drawing them fast under exam pressure.
Build a bank of real-world examples
Follow the economics news through the year (FT, The Economist, BBC Business). Recent examples of policy decisions, inflation data or firm behaviour elevate essay answers.
Structure essays with clear judgement
AO4 is 26-28% and rewards evaluation. Every Section C essay needs a defensible conclusion backed by weighted arguments.
Practise the MCQ + data-response format
Papers 1 and 2 Section A mixes multiple choice with short answer. Practise pacing on both formats separately.
Know the market structure diagrams
Perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition, oligopoly. Practise SR/LR equilibrium diagrams and assumptions for each.
