key tips for success

  • Master case study analysis for Paper 2

Paper 2 is entirely case-study based. Practise reading a case quickly, identifying key issues, then applying business concepts systematically.

  • Build a case-study bank

Follow international business news (BBC Business, Bloomberg). Have 5-6 well-known multinationals in your head to reference in essay answers.

  • Master financial calculations

Cash flow forecasts, income statements, balance sheets, gross and net profit margins, ratio analysis, practise until automatic.

  • Structure evaluation answers

AO4 is 15% and rewards recommendations backed by weighed arguments. Every long answer needs a defensible judgement.

  • Learn the marketing mix cold

Product, price, promotion, place, with worked examples for each. The 4Ps recur across both papers.

  • Use past papers

CIE IGCSE Business Studies past papers are widely available. Do timed practice through the course.
