key tips for success
Master the case-study format
Both papers include two case studies (Sections B and C, worth 70 marks). Practise reading a case quickly, identifying key issues, then applying business concepts.
Build a case-study bank
Follow business news through the year (BBC Business, real UK businesses). Have 5-6 well-known businesses in your head to reference in essay answers.
Master calculations
Break-even, gross profit margin, net profit margin, cash flow, practise these until automatic. Numerical questions are guaranteed marks with practice.
Structure evaluation answers
AO3 is 30% and rewards evaluation. Every long answer needs a judgement backed by weighed arguments, not just a list of pros and cons.
Learn the influences
Section 3.2 (influences on business) appears on both papers. Master economic climate, globalisation, ethics, tech and legislation impacts.
Use past papers
AQA GCSE Business has years of past papers. Do timed practice through year 11 to build stamina and identify weak topics.
