AP (Advanced Placement) Human Geography rewards precise vocabulary. FRQ rubrics are strict: 'urbanization' isn't 'people moving to cities', it's the process by which the proportion of a population living in urban areas increases. The right words at the right moment tend to be worth points; the fuzzy synonyms rarely are.

The seven-unit vocabulary structure
The CED is built around seven units. Unit 1 introduces the vocabulary of the discipline (scale, distribution, density, region); the other six each apply that vocabulary to a specific system (population, culture, politics, agriculture, cities, industry). Learning Unit 1 terms cold is the highest-yield vocab investment, because they thread through every other unit.

How to actually memorize this many terms
200 terms is a lot to hold. The habit that scales best: spaced repetition with real-world examples. Take a stack of index cards or a flashcard app (Anki, Quizlet), put the term on one side and the definition PLUS a real-world example on the other, and review daily.
The example matters more than the definition. FRQ rubrics reward specific application: 'Christaller's central place theory' with 'the hierarchy of towns in the American Midwest' is worth more on paper than the abstract definition alone.
Don't try to learn all seven units at once. Spend a week per unit on vocabulary, then two weeks reviewing the whole set. By the exam you want each term to trigger recall of both definition and example in under 3 seconds.
