How do I know if I've understood a topic?

This approach is sometimes called pre-testing: having a go at questions before you've reviewed the material primes your brain to pay closer attention when you do read through our notes, which means the content tends to stick more effectively. So for a topic like Hazardous Earth or Forests under threat, you might try the quiz first, notice where the gaps are, then read through the relevant notes with those gaps in mind.

After that, returning to the quiz a second time is a great way to confirm what has stuck and flag anything worth going over again.
