How do I mark my own past paper using the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE mark scheme?

We'd suggest checking the command word taxonomy in the specification alongside the mark scheme: Pearson defines exactly what "describe", "explain", "assess", "evaluate" and other command words require, so you can judge whether your answer has hit the right depth. For shorter questions asking you to "identify", "state" or "name" something, the mark scheme will list the accepted points and you simply check your answer against them.
