- Strong winds (gales) - High-speed winds can cause structural damage to buildings, uproot trees, and create dangerous debris, posing risks of injury or death. Transport systems often face disruptions.
- Heavy rainfall - Excessive rain leads to flooding, which can submerge homes, disrupt transport networks, and result in drownings. The financial burden of recovery can reach millions of pounds.
- Snow and ice - These conditions cause slips and falls, leading to injuries, and extreme cold can result in fatalities. Schools and businesses may close, and travel disruptions can have significant economic consequences.
- Drought (lack of precipitation) - Prolonged dry spells deplete water supplies, leading to crop failures and economic losses in agriculture. Water conservation measures, such as hosepipe bans, are often enforced.
