Papers have been available since the first exam series in 2019, and each one gives you practice across both Paper 1 (business activity, marketing and people) and Paper 2 (operations, finance and influences on business). We'd suggest spreading them out across your revision rather than saving them all for the final week, since spaced retrieval over time helps the content stick far better than a last-minute burst. Yes! Working through past papers under timed conditions is one of the most effective things you can do in the run-up to your OCR Business exams. Each paper is 1 hour 30 minutes and worth 80 marks, so practising within that window helps you build a feel for pacing across Section A's multiple choice questions and the longer Section B responses, which include extended writing and synoptic questions in Paper 2.

We'd suggest building up to full timed attempts gradually, starting with shorter topic-based questions first and using spaced retrieval to revisit topics at intervals as your revision progresses. We'd suggest going through each question and noting which command word was being tested (Identify, Explain, Calculate, Analyse, Evaluate), since losing marks on Evaluate questions needs a different fix to losing marks on Calculate questions.

Section B carries 65 of the 80 marks on each paper, so the extended-response questions there tend to have the biggest impact on your score. "Identify" and "State" questions reward knowledge; "Explain" and "Calculate" reward application; "Analyse", "Discuss", "Evaluate", and "Recommend" reward extended reasoning that weighs up both sides of an argument.

OCR's extended response questions use a levels-of-response mark scheme, meaning you're judging the quality and depth of your reasoning rather than simply counting correct points. When self-marking these, we'd suggest reading each level descriptor carefully and asking honestly whether your answer stays at one level or builds into developed analysis with a supported conclusion.
