The main types of production methods

Many businesses combine methods; for example, a high-end bicycle manufacturer might use job production for custom frames, batch production for groups of components, and mass production for standard parts like tyres.
While mass, flow, and process production have slight technical differences, they are often referred to interchangeably.
Job production and its advantages and disadvantages
Job production creates unique goods or services tailored to individual customer requirements. It relies heavily on skilled workers and is the most labour-intensive approach, often resulting in higher costs but allowing for high customisation.

This method emphasises quantity over variety and requires strong marketing to sell the high output.
