The four principles of training
Training forms the foundation for improving fitness, health, or performance in sports and activities. There are four core principles that guide all effective training programmes: specificity, progression, overload, and reversibility.
Specificity
Specificity means matching the training to the particular activity, sport, or goal, as well as to the individual's current abilities. For example, a basketball player would focus on exercises that build explosive jumping power, such as plyometric drills, rather than long-distance running.
Progression
Progression involves gradually increasing the demands of training over time to allow the body to adapt. Starting at an appropriate level and building up slowly helps prevent injury and supports steady improvement. If someone progresses too quickly, it can lead to strains or other injuries because the body hasn't had time to adjust.
Overload

Reversibility
