- Geographical occurrence - Typically form away from the Equator due to insufficient rotational force at the equatorial zone.
- Weakening over land - Lose intensity when moving over land as they are cut off from the moisture supply of the ocean.
- Erratic paths - Their unpredictable trajectories limit advance warnings to roughly 12 hours, complicating preparation efforts.
Effects of tropical storms on coastal areas
